So if all that could be done - I'm all for it. So the editor would have to be smart enough to seek and change ONLY the lines it needs to if you change your configuration via the GUI. The startup file though MIGHT contain more than just IP Address/mask - for instance it could also have IPv6 addresses or even print a bunch of messages using the echo command and finishing with a show ip all command- I know some of my startup files do. So I don't see that it would be that hard to read the startup file and extract the information to put into the dialogue as shown above. By default, this file only stores the Name of the PC, but will also contain the IP address/mask, (or ip dhcp), default gw and DNS after you issue the save command. The VPCS startup configuration file gets stored in its own folder in your project's folder - one folder and one startup.vpc file for each virtual PC.
